they expire 10 years after they have been issued or 100000 miles, or if u had the recall done. Which ever comes first. Dont stress it though. If u really need one u can easily find it on this forum via classifieds or from russel at roughly 60 dolalrs. In all honesty, whatever ur problem is i doubt its ur PTU unless its the old one with aluminum vents. Its most likely the wireing cause its very rare that the new PTU blows out. People sometimes get a new PTU anyway to solve there problem. They remove the old and install the new. Car starts up and good to go. The problem is that the terminals were so correoded on the old one that the new connections to the new PTU r clean so everything works. Bottom line... Problem would have been solved if the conections were cleaned in the first place so make sure ur connections r clean before u go oiut and get another. Check the manual as well to test ur PTU to be absolutely sure it works/doesent work. Good luck.
